🤖 Pivoting From Writing to Building
Getting real in 3, 2, 1....
The hardest decisions are often the right ones.
Hey! It's Matt.
After 12 weeks of resuming my publishing schedule and deep-diving into agentic AI with you, I've made a difficult decision: this is the final edition of AI Agent Insider.
Our life is a series of projects. It’s not a job.
But projects are a choice,
and our freedom gives us the chance to navigate systems and create meaningful change.
That change always happens over time.
Not right now, but bit by bit,
move by move,
day by day.
Why I'm Hitting Pause
I've found myself at a crossroads that some of you might recognize or can relate to:
Do I constantly read and write about agentic AI, or do I focus on building with it instead?
Having the bandwidth to do both would be my ideal state. Unfortunately, I don’t right now, and it would be naive of me to keep pretending like I do.
The reality is that we can only spread ourselves so thin.
One project at a time, I'm learning that lesson – sometimes the hard way.
The AI agent space is accelerating at a pace that demands more than observation. Stating the obvious there, I know, but seriously — it requires daily, focused engineering effort and a disciplined learning routine.
As I've tracked the latest advances every week, I've felt increasingly pulled toward building a lot more than I currently am, rather than just reporting.
So that’s what I’m going to do.
What's Next
I'm refocusing my energy on:
Creating more space for family time and the season of life we’re heading into
Pursuing a few key certifications that will deepen my cloud, data, and AI expertise
Going much deeper in my data science and engineering skillsets, building projects that leverage all of the technologies we've explored and more.
The Journey Continues
Each newsletter has been a learning experience I wouldn't trade (and I will launch another newsletter at some point… that I know for sure).
From tracking the latest AI agent use cases that are creating real value for businesses, to exploring the nuances of AI augmentation versus automation, we've navigated this rapidly evolving landscape together.
What I'll carry forward: The insights from our community, the discipline of staying current, and the ability to translate complex developments into practical takeaways.
Thank You
To everyone who opened these emails each week, shared feedback, or simply trusted me with a small slice of your attention – thank you. Your engagement made this project worthwhile and taught me more than I could have learned on my own.
The bottom line: Sometimes growth means knowing when to step back from one path to fully commit to another.
As our journeys evolve from here, let’s connect on LinkedIn (if we haven’t already) and stay in touch.
Until our paths cross again,
Matt
